McConnell Amendment Fails in the Senate

The Lawyers' Committee applauds the Senate for voting against Senator Mitch McConnell’s amendment to S. 1348 that would require all voters to show photo ID at the polls beginning January 1, 2008.

The Lawyers' Committee's unwavering commitment to combating the de facto disenfranchisement of Americans that results from restrictive voter ID laws continues to place the Lawyers' Committee at the forefront of this issue. Continued efforts to undermine the integrity of our elections are unacceptable to the Lawyers' Committee.
