Ami Sanchez

Associate Counsel, National Campaign for Fair Elections

Ami Sanchez currently serves as Associate Counsel for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.  In this role, Ami works in the Committee’s National Campaign for Fair Elections, helping to coordinate the national Election Protection program for the 2008 election cycle. 

Prior to joining the Lawyers’ Committee, Ami served as the Assistant Director for Lawyer Chapters at the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS), where she helped to strengthen existing ACS lawyer chapters and build new lawyer chapters across the country. Prior to joining ACS, after successfully completing the Texas Bar Examination, Ami worked for the New York state senate caucus through Campaign Corps, a project of EMILY’S List. As a law student, Ami founded the Texas Democratic Lawyers Council, a state organization under the Democratic National Committee’s National Lawyers Council, where she helped to build a statewide network of volunteer lawyers and law students on behalf of the Party’s voter protection efforts. Also while in law school, Ami worked in community outreach in the office of Texas State Representative Lon Burnam. Additionally, she served on the boards of several student organizations, and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. 

In her personal capacity, Ami currently serves as a Communications Committee Co-chair of the Hispanic Bar Association-DC.  Ami is a 2006 graduate of Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and a 2002 graduate of Hollins University with a major in Political Science and a minor in Economics.
