Absentee voting is allowed if the voter is:

Advanced in age
Ill or has a disability preventing a trip to the polling place
A Student who temporarily resides outside the county
Temporarily residing outside of Kentucky
Confined in jail pending acquittal or conviction of a crime
Working a shift outside of the county during all hours of voting
A member of the Armed Forces or a spouse or dependent of a member of the Armed forces
A U.S. citizen living overseas who will be at least 18 years of age before the next General Election and whose last residence prior to going overseas was in KY

Rules and Deadlines

Absentee ballots can be found with the county clerk and must be requested at least seven days before an election.
Ballots must be returned to the county clerk.
Ballot must be received by 6 p.m. local time on Election Day for the ballot to be counted.

Yes, for any voter who is going to be absent on Election Day 12 working days before the election at the County Clerk’s Office.

Election officers confirm the identity of each voter by:
- Personal acquaintance or
- Document, such as a driver’s license, Social Security card, or credit card.

Voter is eligible to register once civil rights have been restored.
